some silly selfprotrait and the trailer of one of the most bizarre and beautiful movie I've seen lately
plus
some Radetskys!
yesterday I had some friends over for dinner and I made this beautiful salad and other things...everything turned out quite yummy, but I had the feeling of spending the entire afternoon in the kitchen, ending up with serving just a salad and some linsen/spinach burger and some sauce...sometimes it's like that...
HALLO Berlin, the ice is finally MELTING! Never thought I could love puddles this much, eheheh...
so, my mood is getting brighter, too: tonight and tomorrow I'll be attending two birthday parties, and my touring co-pilot is coming back home in about 48 hours, YAY!!!
thank you for your nice feedback and advices about my Radetskys! I think I may keep on making them with pompoms :)
Hey, have a look at the new t-shirts over at screenprint studio Le Raclet! this one wins my prize, designed by one of my all time favorite italian illustrators, Olimpia Zagnoli!
...yesterday night I almost choked because of a bad sip of miso soup: while I was busy trying to catch my breath, hyperventilating with a "hint" of panic at the tought of being home alone until next week (so that nobody could have discovered my dead body lying on the floor until then...) I forgot that I had a slice of bread in the toaster, and as soon as I was kind of breathing normally, with bulging red eyes and tears, the kitchen was completely filled with smoke... Holy shit, what a moment!
But I really enjoyed the feeling of relief after that! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...
today I've been making some Radetskys... do you prefer them with or without the pom poms???
these days I've been thinking a lot and making less... I still don't know if it's good or bad.
Anyway, I have some new projects to work on, but sometimes my head it's just like a beehive of ideas like in that drawing I made a few years ago, and the results are often frustrating.
After a good start with bigcartel my sales slowed down a lot (i.e. no orders in the last two weeks...)
So I am kind of willing to pick up sewing projects not related to making creatures, like working on some new dresses: I've made that one in navy blue/mustard yellow, but it's only an unfinished prototype until now.
I've recently bought this book about pattern making and I went through it finding it pretty helpful, with simple explanations and a clever "spirit" behind it. Maybe a few more sketches would have helped in some "dark passages". and it's also a bummer that the measurement in every examples are only in inches, not centimeters, but anyway, I recommend it if you already have some little skills in sewing!
here's a clumsy flyer I designed for my boyfriend who is on tour: Thursday the 18th: Milano!
too bad that I wont be there!
I've been listening a lot to this beautiful album, I think it's perfect for winter!
here's an excerpt:
I've just found this Surprise in my mail box! my dear friend Vera sent me these ribbons she bought on her trip to Thailand!!! grassie V! I hope she'll be coming to live in Berlin soon!
These last days I have been pretty boo/demotivated/fed up with winter... I've had enough of walking like a dork on icy pavements, wearing 4 layers of clothes, big boots...
And this morning I was working on some new Les Monstris, but I wasn't able to concentrate on the same thing for more than 3.5 minutes.
Today we went for a short walk through the cemetery that is pratically behind our back door (you can see half of our kitchen window in the exact centre of the last picture)
In every season there is always something fascinating in this place! Huge trees and foxes's chases...
it is so strickening reading those sorrowful pages describing the German occupation of France, written almost on the spot, at the same time as they were happening, and knowing that less that 2 years later she would have been gassed by the Nazis. A sudden death, as she was one of her own characters.
I've been making Milo today! outside it was so sunny, I really wanted to go out, but I need to catch up on soooo many things I can't even start thinking about them all... Uh, I am very excited 'cause for the first time today I noticed that days are getting LONGER, uuuhoooooo!
tonight I am going to this event, can't wait to see OM playing!
I've just discovered via ffffound this great artist Mark Weaver, check out his portfolio and shop
I had a strange afternoon, I took a day off and wanted to go to Neukoelln, at Cafè Vux for dinner, Mr C hasn't been there yet. We arrived there starving, crossing a blizzard (that has been going on all afternoon) and: the place was CLOSED. Tuesday it's their rest day. jeesh. We opted for Hamy instead.
Later we went visiting Staalplaat, where I discovered this book GlömpX, I was particularly stunned by the work of finnish artist Hanneriina Moisseinen, a narrative comic entirely embroidered with the free-hand technique!
today I've made Palomino, it's been a while since the last time I made a creature with wings. I like the fact that you can move these up and down! He is now in the shop
