These are my first two tries at the beautiful mexican craft of ojos de dios, or God's eye, originally a ritual tool from the Hiuchol peoples, made using yarn and sticks, bringing unexpectedly interesting results, even with the simplest technique.

Looking for more information about this I've come across what seems to be the master of these yarn mandala nowadays, Mr. Jay Mohler. Here's one of my favorite of his:

in other news, I've been listing many new vintage items in the shop, and looks like the crave for colors after all these gray days drove me towards some of the most colorful finds lately!

in other news: I am very excited to announce that my boyfriend's band In Zaire is going to release their first full lenght album titled “White Sun Black Sun”.

instead I was very disappointed to aknowledge that BBC2 axed the third series of "The Hour", as I've grown fonder of this beautiful series in the past months.

I will be missing great characters such as Freddie Lyon, and I'd loved to see more of Anna Chancellor and Peter Capaldi:

Tutorial: Paper Scallop Bunting

Here's a short tutorial for this super-easy paper scallop bunting!

(as you can see La Pouf loves it already...)

1. This is what you'll need.

The black roll It's adhesive film paper, I chose a black matte one.

2. Trace the circles using the tape roll as guide.

3. Cut out your circles!

4. Fold the circles in half.

5. Peel away the white paper and place your string

or yarn in the middle folding line on the sticky side.

6. Fold over, like this!

7. Go on adding your circles, it's up to you

whether you want them very close or far apart from each other.

8. There you go! Here I've made two short strings to place on my window:

Now it's up to you, choose different colors, different sizes, etc.

soooo... this is the news I was talking about! It's a new outlet for Go Go Berlinette where you will find a special selection of my bestest Vintage Home Decor finds!

I've had the pleasure to be contacted by the supernice people at Tictail, as they were going to launch their platform in Germany and were looking for people interested in having an online shop that is FREE, easy to use and fully customizable, and of course I jumped right on!!!

~this week there are going to be some great news regarding my Go Go Berlinette project...~

January is being kind of a crazy month for me, many changes and choices, the main one being that from next month I will be a full time free-lance again: I want to go back to my sewing machine and I have many fabric-related projects that need to find their way out from my head.

Not only monsters, eh eh.

One of my resolutions for 2013 is to cook something new every week from the many vegan cook books I own. Lately I've been trying different recipes involving baking, especially cookies and cakes. Pictured here are some chocolate-orange Linzers that I made from this great book:

they turned up super yummy and were also fun to make!

so, I'm going back to work to the GGB aforementioned project now, fighting an inauspicious cold with a Thermos of ginger tea by my side and La Pouf in my lap.

Our First Two Months with La Pouf

Our kitten La Pouf has been with us already for two months now, and seems to me like I can't even remember how life was BEFORE she came... we are so happy with her, every day she makes us laugh, even when she's up to no good...

Since now everyone I met asks me "How is La Pouf?", here are some of my favorite pictures of her from my instagram, so you can see for yourself that she is having days full of adventures around the house, exploring every corner and discovering something new every day...

Here's even a ruddy video of me and her playing fetch from the sofa!! Hell YEAH!

I've finally managed to update the shop with some new Les Monstris!!! It's been a while now since my last creature.

I had to take a pause with the handmade objects I used to make, partially because of a lack of time (I've been dedicating more time to the Go Go Berlinette shop, plus a part-time waitressing job).

But mostly because something in the way of looking at the things I was making changed in me. I was never satisfied with the results and I feel that I haven't been able to find the ideal context for my creatures...

That's why somehow it's not easy to get back to the creative flow I was in a couple of years ago, when I was making almost a new creature every day...

So for the moment I am taking it slowly, I will be making small batches of Les Monstris and Radetskies that will be for sale only in my own etsy shop. Sorry no custom orders!

Porcelain Sets with Beautiful Patterns: new in the shop

Here are some great porcelain sets I've recently added to the KITCHEN section of Go Go Berlinette, they all are made in Germany during the 1960s, and from some among the most famous porcelain manufacturers: Kahla, Melitta and Thomas.

I immediately fell in love with their delicate patterns and lovely colors, plus the shape and design are fantastic, don't you think? Amazing how modern these can be nowadays.

I hope you like them, they would be perfect for the approaching season of gatherings with your favourite folks!

(These will be listed soon, it is a set from Swiss manufacturer Langenthal, typical 70s style in the dekor called "Sahara". Very interesting shapes and irregular semi-matte surface. How great!)

Autumn Walk

We are having a wonderful autumn weather here in Berlin, and today in the late afternoon we decided to take a walk in the beautiful cemetery behind our apartment. Breathtaking!

My First Two Weeks with La Pouf

Here she is, my friends, for the few of you who still haven't heard of her: LA POUF, the little kitten who came to live with us two weeks ago!!

She is a beautiful blue point siamese that has been kindly donated to me by a collegue/friend. I think I haven't been THIS happy in ages. For real.

Right now, while I am writing, she is sleeping on my knees: she follows us wherever we go around the house!

Surely because of her, and also because of the weather and the fact that I am working less days at the restaurant, I am enjoying so much staying at home! It's great to have more time to dedicate to one of my favourite things: cooking. I love autumn vegetables and this is the perfect time for pumpkins! Here are a couple of things I've made:

I've been spending some days in Italy, visiting my friends in Pavia and then some days in the cabin with "my family and other animals", up in the Alps, where I used to spend the summers when I was a kid.

I am happy to announce that we are finally getting a CAT, a siamese cat, born 3 days ago!!!

here they are:

I can't wait until October.... luckily the litter is from a friend of mine, so that I can visit them and see how they'll grow up in the next weeks...

the cat-shopping frenzy has started, and on top of my list there is THIS.. I wish they made it also in human size...

Amazing patterns and some exciting news

Everyone following this blog may already know that I am a big fan of bold colorful patterns... so it's not hard to understand why I instantly fell in love with this amazing cutting board by swedish illustrator Anna Pernilla! It's so great, I am using it everyday both as cutting board or as small tray for my breakfast. Talking about breakfast: I've finally won a bid for two small Gustavsberg plates with my life favorite pattern, Berså by Stig Lindberg!

More about playful patterns: I' have recently discovered the wonderful works of London based illustrator Thereza Rowe, and on her blog I've found out about this great free App called Granimator™. It's a collection of hundreds of wallpapers by great illustrators and graphic designers, and the fun part is that you can play with each board, creating different combinations by moving individual elements around. I find this one by Tyra von Zweigbergk particularly genius, it's like playing with wood blocks on your iPad! this is what I came up with:

there are also great patterns on some of the treasures I've found this weekend, soon to be in my GoGoBerlinette shop, like an Arabia of Finland tea set with the Paju pattern, and a GDR soup thermos!

last but not least, today the new issue of FRANKIE magazine is out, and yours truly is featured in it the Homebodies section!! I can't wait to put my hands on a copy, so thrilled!!
(by the way, a nice customer wrote me an email this morning sayin that she recognized the item she has recently bought from me, it was in one of the pictures of GoGoBerlinette's studio :)

A precious find: Polaroid SX-70

Last Sunday I went thrifting even though I wasn't feeling very well: I (still) have a bad cold plus I was very tired 'cause I've been working 5 days at the resaurant, instead of my usual 3... but the gods of fleamarkets prized me with this gorgeous find:

a Polaroid SX-70 plus flash, for a super happy price! This is definitely a Keeper!!!

Thanks to the Impossible Project it's still possible to find the Instanf film, and I've found out that here in Berlin there is some nice people over at Sofortbild-shop, where they tested my camera and I bought the precious film to start exeperimenting with my new toy

Stockholm!

Last weekend I've been to Stockholm with my boyfriend, who was playing at Fylkingen

We were staying at our friend Per's house and he showed us around his neighborhood and some topic places around the city... needless to say I've loved every step of it! We also had a yummy vegan meal at the chinese restaurant Lao Wei, suggested by my swedish-berliner friend Victoria

But the thing that made my heart collapse a bit is his Sphynx cat, a tiny female named Noise:

I was very curious to see "in person"a cat of this particular breed, and after spending two days with one, and realizing that my the Mister had no signs of his calamitous cat allergy, we both decided that this is the cat for us!!! so now we are on the look for a female Sphynx, most probably after the summer. You cannot believe how this thought is making me happy!

These are some of the things that came back from Sweden with me!

I've found the beautiful and long time coveted Gustavsberg Bersa bowl at an elegant thrift store called Statdsmissionen, the "Detaljer Hemma" book at Designtorget, here are some pictures of it:

plus on the same "maple syrup for the eyes" mood, I've found this great magazine, "Hus & Hem RETRO", all in swedish but full of info about prices and what's hot in the Vaterland of Mid Century Modern Design... have a look:

I hope I will manage to get back in the summer, maybe staying a little longer than 48 hours :)
